Site History

Lonsdale Cemetery, Somme

20th February 2011

This site commemorates the service of the South Lancashire Regiment during and immediately after the Great War 1914-1919.

Work commenced in August 2010 and the site will be developed over time to add details of all Battalions of the Regiment looking at their service both in the UK and overseas during the period.

Accessing the regimental history, war diaries and personal accounts, the site aspires to become the initial point of knowledge for all queries on the regiment, its officers and men.

Personal details, pictures and stories of soldiers who served in the regiment will be added wherever possible.

If you have any queries which are not answered by the site or if you feel that you can add anything, then please contact me by clicking here and submitting an email. Your email address will not be disclosed and will only be used to discuss the South Lancashire Regiment.

I would be especially delighted to hear from people who can provide details of family members who served, and any pictures which you feel you can share will be loaded to the site with full acknowledgment.
